Role Overview
You will be responsible for the market positioning, core narrative, and go-to-market strategy for Dify and our new product lines.
You will serve as the bridge between product and market: developing a deep understanding of our products, users, and competitive landscape; forming a clear point of view; and aligning Product, Engineering, and Marketing around a shared positioning.
This is a hands-on role. You must be able to exercise sound judgment and turn that judgment into clear messaging, launch briefs, and market-facing materials.
Responsibilities
1. Product Positioning and Messaging
Define the target audience, core use cases, value proposition, and differentiated positioning for key product lines.
Translate complex AI and technical capabilities into market-facing language that users can easily understand and that motivates them to try the product.
Build and continuously refine our messaging framework, ensuring that our website, content, community communications, and product launches tell a consistent story.
2. Participate in New Product Development from Zero to One
Contribute from the earliest stages of new product development, including user research, demand validation, target-audience selection, and market-opportunity assessment.
Work with founders, Product, and Engineering to evaluate key trade-offs and help answer: Who are we building for? What should we build first? How should we validate it?
Develop early go-to-market plans for new products, including seed-user recruitment, beta feedback, market positioning, and initial launch.
Bring post-launch user feedback and market signals back to the team, helping the product and its positioning continue to evolve.
3. Product Launches and Market Narrative
Lead the external narrative for major product and feature launches, identifying the one core message each launch should be remembered for.
Develop launch briefs that align the target audience, key value propositions, content direction, channel messaging, and success criteria.
Collaborate with relevant teams to turn each product launch into a coordinated, end-to-end market initiative.
4. Market and Customer Insights
Continuously monitor user feedback, competitive products, and changes in the global GenAI market.
Generate actionable market insights through customer interviews, community observation, product data, and competitive research.
Translate market insights into recommendations for product positioning, product direction, and go-to-market strategy—not simply summaries of information.
5. Core Marketing Materials
Write or lead the development of core website copy, product overviews, launch content, one-pagers, and key in-product guidance.
Provide Content, Developer Relations, Community, and other external-facing teams with consistent product messaging and clear content briefs.
Use AI to improve the efficiency of research, analysis, messaging tests, and content development, while remaining accountable for the final judgment and quality of the work.
Qualifications
Required
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to participate in in-depth product and strategy discussions and collaborate across teams in Chinese on a daily basis.
Professional working proficiency in English, with the ability to develop product positioning, write market-facing copy, and communicate effectively for English-speaking markets.
Experience in product marketing, go-to-market strategy, product strategy, or a closely related role.
Direct, hands-on experience taking at least one product through a complete zero-to-one journey.
For your zero-to-one experience, we expect you to explain clearly:
How the initial product idea or user problem emerged.
How the team validated the need instead of moving directly into execution.
How the first target users and core use cases were selected.
Which major disagreements, trade-offs, and decisions arose during the process.
What you personally owned, drove, or influenced.
How the product acquired its first users and continued to evolve after launch.
Joining the marketing effort only after the product positioning and direction had already been determined does not qualify as the complete zero-to-one experience we are looking for.
You should also bring:
A clear point of view and strong judgment—the ability to say, “This is how the product should be positioned,” and explain the reasoning behind it.
Strong writing skills in both Chinese and English, with the ability to turn complex technical products into accurate, concise, and compelling language.
Strong customer and market instincts, with the ability to identify decision-relevant insights from a large volume of information.
A genuine interest in AI and developer products, a willingness to engage with technical documentation, and the ability to collaborate closely with Product and Engineering.
Strong cross-functional influence, with the ability to build alignment and move work forward without relying solely on formal authority.
A self-directed and pragmatic working style, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing, cross-time-zone environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AI, SaaS, developer tools, cloud platforms, or open-source products.
Experience positioning or launching products for North American or European markets.
Experience launching products through GitHub, Product Hunt, Hacker News, or other developer communities.
Hands-on experience with customer research, competitive analysis, or category creation.
Experience leading a small project team or driving complex cross-functional initiatives.
