About the position: Half engineer and half artist, you speak the language of the programmer but can dance to the tune of an artist. Dancing between the often blurry line of technical limits and artistic vision. Responsibilities: - Material creation and refinement. - Daily support for Art and Tech teams. - Problem solving for key production issues. - Recognizing inefficiencies and pipeline issues, and identifying solutions. - Enabling other team members to achieve tasks in an efficient & consistent manner. - Developing tools & scripts for 3rd party software (Max, Photoshop) and in-house tools. - Creation & maintenance of documentation for Technical Art features and tools to provide for the team. - Liaise between Art and Engine programming teams on a daily basis to facilitate production needs. - Regularly profile scenes and highlight/address issues with relevant individuals. Qualifications: - 3+ years of games industry experience, having worked on at least one shipped AAA title. - Understanding of physically based rendering (PBR), lighting and shading. - Experience in creating shaders. - Solid understanding of optimization techniques. - Knowledge of 3dsmax or Maya and Photoshop toolsets. - Able to troubleshoot day-to-day art production issues. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally. - Strong problem solving and trouble-shooting skills. - Strong interpersonal skills, work well with teams from various disciplines. - Console or mobile development experience is a plus. - Understanding of 3D Math functions (linear algebra & vector maths) for real time graphics. - Scripting experience, e.g. Python, MEL, Max Script is a plus. - HLSL experience is a plus. - Experience with middleware such as SpeedTree, Simplygon, FaceFX, Allegorithmic Substance, etc. is a plus. - Experience with profiling tools such as PIX.

Responsibilities* * Review the client’s package with Art Director to check if there are any problems with reference materials or requirements. * Ensure all artists understand the art requirements and specific needs of the project. * Cooperate with Art Director and Producer to composite the team and estimate the time for the project. * Manage the outsourcing team. * Analyze the client's brief and workflow document, propose optimization suggestions, and train the artists on the team. * Check daily work according to this schedule and notice Producer about the risks and propose solutions. * Perform daily checks of every artist progress in order to find and eliminate any possible problems as soon as possible. * Prepare all assets for Art Director review either on his computer or on artists’ computers when the artist finishes important WIP (working in process) stage, and conduct a basic quality control review before the Art Director reviews. * Ensure that the Artist knows the client’s feedback perfectly and check whether the Artist is able to implement the feedback. * Evaluate the art team performance. * Evaluate the ability of the artist and set the improvement target for them. * Occasionally travel outside of China to work onsite with the foreign client during pre-production. * Communicate with technical art, explain the technical assistance requirement, and push the solution implementation. * Communicate with the client's artist directly. Qualifications* * Experience creating photorealistic set pieces, props, textures, and materials on next-gen console platforms (character). * Experience of outsourcing team management. * A minimum of 4 years full-cycle console game experience in modeling, texturing, and shading character assets. * Two or more published games in an Character or Prop Artist role. * Ability to show examples of top-notch props and textures made for next-gen console games * Work well in a large team character, be proactive, and have excellent communication skills. * Deep understanding of the complete game art development and production pipeline. * Master level experience creating the assets conform to the PCconsolemobile game technical specifications with Autodesk Maya3DsMax or Blender. * Master level experience using Adobe Photoshop and Substance Toolsets to create photorealistic textures for next-gen materials based on concepts and/or photo reference. * Zbrush experience for high-res sculpting and transferring to in-game assets. * Deep understanding of next-gen materials and shader and is able to achieve the desired surface qualities needed across a variety of characteral assets. * Skilled at balancing art quality and performance in the game engine include and is not limited to the Unreal Engine, Unity Engine, and Cry Engine. * A passion for making great games.
