Job Summary and Mission:
The Category director, Beverage requires to lead the growing success of Starbucks in the China market by leading beverage category business plan development, portfolio architecture design, category innovation, drive implementation of integrated initiatives across different channels, step change innovation process and evolve end-to-end infrastructure/innovation process in collaboration with cross functions to unlock future growth. This role develops strategic assessment and planning of beverage category, drives integration with coffee and other categories that achieve growth objectives and meet customer needs in a brand accretive way. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
1. Business ownership of beverage category performance
- Responsible for leading and driving beverage category profitable growth agenda: setting and achieving topline and bottom line targets, managing daily routines of related category business
- Lead strategic plan development with comprehensive marketplace dynamics, business and portfolio analysis and clear recommendation for implementation, striving to deliver break-through business strategies
- Formulate category strategic initiatives and identify white space opportunities by quantifying specific consumer needs, capturing evolving market dynamics and identifying product drivers with the support from insight team
- Lead and collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to ensure integration and implementation excellence of beverage category strategies, activities and projects
2. Category Innovation and New Product Development
- Take leading role in developing long term innovation strategy for China as well as derivatives exploration/test
- Develop and present the business case for new products or programs to support market growth strategies and profitability targets
- Lead integrated launch programs for new beverage platforms and products, including positioning, marketing plans and store operations and supply chain requirements
3. Transform Innovation Process and Infrastructure
- Understand and capitalize on latest tools and resources to garner insights on consumers, customers, retail partners, competitors and build integrated powerful insight engine with insight and IT team
- Develop and pivot new innovation process to enable more agile, faster and collaborative ways of innovation
- Collaborate with cross functions to build new capabilities along the end to end process to continuously increase innovation success rate, agility and reduce operational complexity
Summary of Experience
- 10+ years’ experience and proven background in business analysis, brand and portfolio management in consumer brand companies
- 5+ years’ project management experience with product development and launch experience in F&B and retail.
- 5+ years’ experience in in-house end to end portfolio management from opportunity assessment, product development and in-market communication/activation for the launch
