WHAT YOU’LL DO As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for setting architectural direction for parts of our system, delivering large bodies of well-engineered code and owning projects that directly impact Optiver’s cutting-edge trading systems. You will collaborate with fellow Engineers, Traders and Researchers to develop a deep understanding of trading, exchanges and what the 'machine' is doing. You're not attached to tools and technologies, you focus on solving problems. Your challenge is to further innovate and maintain the foundation underlying our wider infrastructure. WHAT YOU’LL DO: You will improve our trading results using insights driven by data. You'll work closely with the development, research, and trading teams. You will develop hypotheses and test them experimentally. You'll direct engineering efforts and build tools & metrics to monitor and optimize our low-latency trading strategies. You'll work with cutting-edge hardware and terabytes of data. You’ll reverse engineer systems to understand how to improve our trading success. In short, you’ll be responsible for defining and driving improvements to our trading through technology. WHO YOU ARE: • An understanding of how computer systems work e.g., memory allocation, caches, system programming, networking strong preferred • Experience in programming Python (Pandas, Numpy, SciPy, pyspark) strongly preferred • Scientific and critical thinking skills, as well as an eye for detail. • Outstanding communication skills. You’re able to coordinate with multiple stakeholder groups, challenging thinking and obtaining buy-in. • The ability to present complex ideas with data to expedite decision making. • A focus on pragmatic outcomes, and the ability to prioritize effectively. • An interest in, or knowledge of, trading. • Reverse engineering experience is a bonus.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON: We are seeking an exceptional machine learning modelling engineer. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of neural networks and related machine learning technologies, with experience in implementing and training complex deep learning models. As part of your role, you’ll get to: Leverage on-prem infrastructure to solve substantial challenges in computational and data scale. Drive experimental rigour through repeatable processes on assured data. Collaborate closely with researchers and traders on new experiments, capabilities, and data sources. Design and implement improvements to optimise research productivity and quality. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: A PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, with a strong focus on machine learning or deep learning. Deep understanding of the principles, theories, and concepts underlying machine learning and deep learning technologies, including the design and implementation of neural networks. Proven experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, etc. Strong programming skills in Python, familiar with data analysis tools and principles. Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams. Outstanding communication skills.
